Monty Bain is the Southeast Regional Communications Manager for The Cotton Board. Bain is responsible for sharing information about the Cotton Research and Promotion Program with cotton producers and stakeholders in his region, which includes Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. In his role, Bain recruits cotton producers to attend tours of Cotton Incorporated’s World Headquarters in Cary, North Carolina. He also attends, and often speaks at, research, gin, and industry meetings in his respective states. Bain often attends fields days and trade shows and represents The Cotton Board at the Sunbelt Ag Expo and Mid-South Farm & Gin Show each year. Bain joined The Cotton Board staff in 2008. He attended Troy University and worked in the cotton merchandizing industry for nearly 40 years, including 17 years with Dunavant Enterprises. He is a 1976 graduate of Murdoch’s International Cotton School where he learned to grade and class cotton and is past chairman of The Atlantic Cotton Association’s Spot Quotation. He has been married for 43 years and has three children and five grandchildren. Bain currently resides on Lake Martin in East Central Alabama and enjoys fishing, boating, and listening to beach music.
The Cotton Board consist of 16 employees, 10 are located at the Memphis, TN headquarters while six work remotely in their primary regions.
