Getting Involved with The Cotton Board
Members, Alternates and Advisors of The Cotton Board collaboratively represent the interests of both cotton importers and cotton producers to provide oversight and direction of the Cotton Research & Promotion Program (the Program) targeted at improving the profitability of both industry segments.
The Organizations
Nominations to The Cotton Board are accepted from Certified Producer Organizations (CPOs) and Certified Importer Organizations (CIOs). USDA determines the eligibility of organizations based on provisions defined in the Cotton Research and Promotion Order.
The Commitment
For over 50 years, the Program has been working to facilitate the economic success and viability of U.S. cotton – and leadership of this Program is no small responsibility. Members, Alternates, and Advisors serve three-year terms and are requested to attend three regular meetings annually. These sessions take place in early March, August and December and last approximately 2-3 days.
